Ugadi is the harbinger of new hope and
its fulfillment. It is the New Year Day in the Telugu
Calendar. The traditional mixture of the bitter neem leaves
and the sweet jaggery sherbat, symbolising the dual aspect
of sorrow and happiness respectively, would be given as
prasad to each devotee. Bhajan and worship were the
significant aspects of the day.
It is the celebration of the Telugu New
Year day in Andhra Pradesh. It provides us with an
opportunity to contemplate on vastness of time, of its
speed, of how to put to best use in our life. Festivities
along with traditionalism mark the day in Prasanthi Nilayam
where thousands of devotees from Andhra Pradesh come to
spend the day in the presence of the Divine Lord, of his
Divine Discourse and blessings for the New Year.
